🌸 Devotional: When Even the Strong Feel Low
- 3 days ago
- 2 min read
“Even people who walk closely with God—pastors, prophets, leaders, intercessors, worshipers—have moments where their spirit feels heavy or low.”
Scripture Focus
“My soul is downcast within me; therefore I will remember You.” — Psalm 42:6
Devotion
We often imagine that the closer someone is to God, the less they struggle.
But Scripture shows us the opposite.
Elijah called down fire from heaven…
and then collapsed under a tree, overwhelmed and exhausted.
David defeated giants…
yet wrote psalms with tears running down his face.
Paul healed the sick and cast out demons…
but admitted he despaired “even of life itself.”
Even Jesus—strong, holy, sinless—felt “deep sorrow to the point of death” in Gethsemane.
If the spiritual giants we admire had low moments, then why do we think we should be strong all the time?
Why do we judge ourselves when our spirit feels heavy?
The truth is this:
Spiritual heaviness is not a sign that you are failing God.
It is a sign that you are human.
God never asked you to be unbreakable—He asked you to be His.
Your low moment does not disqualify your calling.
Your weariness does not cancel your anointing.
Your heaviness does not mean God has stepped away.
It simply means your spirit has been pouring…
fighting…
interceding…
carrying…
hoping…
believing…
enduring…
And now it needs to be refilled.
When your spirit feels low, God does not stand far away.
He draws near.
He becomes gentle.
He whispers instead of thunders.
He carries instead of commands.
He restores instead of rebukes.
Your weakness is not the end of you—
it’s the doorway for God’s strength.
Reflection
Where have I been spiritually pouring out lately?
Have I been judging myself for feeling low?
What might God be inviting me to receive instead of striving to give?
Prayer
Lord, I bring You the places where I feel heavy, weary, or empty.
Thank You for reminding me that even the strongest believers need rest.
Meet me in my weakness.
Refill what is drained.
Lift what I can’t carry.
And remind my heart that I am loved in the valleys just as much as on the mountaintops.
Amen.
A Gentle Reminder
You don’t have to feel strong to be held by God.
He meets you where you are—
not where you think you should be.
