They are to little By Zaundra Mapp

The hardest thing I‘ve had to do recently as a mother is apologize for something I didn’t do to my babies. Sorry for the actions of others that has hurt and confused them. Sorry they thought there fathers-would be around to give me support with them physically. To be there for them to spend time with. To try to erase all the broken promises they fed them.
Sorry that they just walked out without any remorse or feelings of how the kids feel inside. Thinking their actions didn’t affect these little innocent souls. Wiping tears away. Trying to explain to them all their “why mommy questions”.
Yes children are resilient but they don’t forget things that have bothered them. They don’t forget the people that made them sad.
How do I fix what is broken within them? How do I help them move past their feeling of abandonment from there other parent? The questions get deeper, the tears get more stronger.
As a mom I try to be very transparent with them. I try to build them up. I try my best to make them feel comfortable in talking to me. We have cuddle sessions often. When they are sad I let them know not to hold emotions in. It’s ok to be sad. It’s ok to want to talk about what is bothering you.
Last night was one of those nights. My baby was so incredibly sad. I held him so tight. His sister held him even tighter. We cried and we talked and we at the end of our talk still found something to smile about.
They know the power of prayer and they know that God is with us during every season of our life. I explained when they are sad about actions of others we just pray for them harder.
We have to forgive and sadly we have to try and move on. The truth is we can‘t make people love us, stay with us, be a family with us. Some people have their own plans outside of US.
We have so many memories to make. We are going to be ok. The tears they shed and emotions they feel are significant enough to be acknowledged. I’m so blessed that we have each other. Somehow and someway were going to make it through all of this!
Life can feel so scary sometimes! The Lord will see us through!
“When I am afraid, I put my trust in you”
